What keeps people honest about grades when applying for jobs?

Say you’re fresh out of college and applying for a job. I know you typically only put your GPA on your resume when applying for your first real post-college job. Since your school can’t let anyone see your transcripts without your permission, what’s to keep you honest on your resume?

If your GPA was 2.2, what keeps you from saying you had a 3.6 GPA when applying for your first job? Even Abraham from the bible lied when survival was at stake.
This is assuming you know your stuff even though your grades were low, and you’re going to work hard and do a good job at your new job.

Most people sign something that says it’s ok for a potential employer to check them out; that usually includes scholastic records. If I were you, I’d stick with the truth.

    Your permanent record.

Many employers will either ask you to sign a release form to do a background check and to get info from your college, or will ask for an official transcript sent to them from the school. If you lied, you’ll be terminated immediately.

Well, they could ask you for a copy of your transcript.
