Where will spending my tax rebate do the most good for the economy?

So, assuming I’ll be getting a check from Uncle Sam for $600 sometime between now and June (and most of the rest of you as well). Where and how will be the best way to spend it to help the economy? Save it? Buy one expensive item (say a camera or a sofa)? Buy a bunch of inexpensive items at various stores(tools, clothes, DVDs, etc)?
Where will my buck have the most bang for the buck?

Buy American-made goods (i.e. don’t shop at Walmart).

Not sure that it matters. if you buy things great. if you pay off debt or save it the banks have more cash to lend.

It doesn’t matter what you do with it as long as you spend it. The economy needs more cash flowing to boost sales and employment and basically everything. I hope it works!

For the economy, spend it at a mom & pop shop (or locally owned franchise) that will sell you domestic goods or services. For example: A Restaurant.

For yourself, pay down your debt

Why should we always be spending money to help the economy? Spending simply helps the retail stores. Saving probably helps the economy more in the long run.

I’m saving part of mine for a future vacation and paying on my credit card with the rest. That’s what I would recommend: either go somewhere and play tourist or pay off debt.

If you’re determined to spend it, any retailer would be happy to help you. Look around you. Is there anything that you need replaced? Do you need new clothes in general or specific wardrobe items (dressy/business attire)? Do you need to replace any of your electronics? Digital TV’s are a must now, so if you don’t have one, that would be an option. Other than that, is there anything that you just plain want?

Hmmmm. I would say 1) Down payment on a house… good for you, the economy, everybody. If you can’t because of debt then 2) pay down the debt. If you refuse to do that then 3) Drink yourself more deeply into debt while tipping 40%. Most of america is in the service industry, and its an investment in yourself of sorts.
